Custodial Assistant (Part-time)

Front End Developer

Task Force Tips is seeking a front end developer with strong UX and UI design skills to complement our internal development team, define usability and style guidelines for internal applications, develop user interfaces for new internal applications, and maintain a quality design and interface on a new public company website after it is completed. This is strictly an on-site opportunity.

We are a mid-sized manufacturer of fire-fighting equipment with the agility of a small business and a love of technology. We have tremendous flexibility in the decisions we make, especially with experimental technologies and techniques. The front end developer will report to the IT Director, work closely with the development team, and interact with employees from other departments as required. They will provide UX and UI guidance for internal web applications and create front end user interfaces. They will communicate regularly with the team chosen to rebuild the company website, to facilitate maintaining it beyond what the marketing team can manage using standard CMS tools, and incrementally update its design as needed.

Challenges and Opportunities

  • TFT's developers provide full-time support to the entire business process at Task Force Tips, which often relies on tightly integrated custom software solutions throughout the workflow. Ideal candidates will be eager to learn the "how" and "why" of these processes, which include sales, manufacturing, accounting and inventory management, with the intent of presenting creative solutions to their respective challenges.

  • We are a small team, so specialization in front end work will be different from our previous approaches. While candidates will focus on front-end work with Bootstrap and PrimeNG components using Angular4, they will have the opportunity to learn or hone skills with modern back-end technologies and techniques such as Entity Framework (code first), ASP.NET Web API, unit and end-to-end testing, SQL (Oracle and SQL Server) as well as SQL Server technologies including SSIS, SSRS and SSAS. Please note this is an opportunity, not an expectation.

  • Ideal candidates will be able to manage their time to effectively get things done while shifting between different work activities.

  • Developers interact with personnel throughout the company for requirements gathering, training, user testing/evaluation and bug-fix investigations. Personnel may be anyone from shop floor employees to the CEO, and developers must be respectful and maintain professionalism in all interactions to achieve effective results.

Candidates must achieve the following goals

  • In the first thirty days, complete an audit of the current state of design and navigation within our intranet system, starting with SharePoint sites and working out. Identify major pain points and lowest-effort opportunities.

  • In the first sixty days, author a living design guide for new web application development using Angular and PrimeNG. The guide must provide working examples for reference and be checked into source control, ideally as a standalone Angular (v4) application.

  • In the first ninety days, author a guiding document for SharePoint site presentation which is easily understood and referenced by all parties responsible for managing their respective sites. Train those parties to effectively apply the document to their sites.

  • In the first year, compose a detailed plan to standardize the design/presentation of legacy intranet applications using bootstrap. There are numerous separate business areas, each with their own needs. Each business area should be addressed as an individual project.

Territory Managers

We are currently seeking to fill (2) Territory Manager positions in the following territories:

North Central Territory Manager (ND, SD, MN, NE, IA, KS)

Task Force Tips, Inc., a worldwide leader in firefighting equipment manufacturing, is seeking a full-time Territory Manager.  Position is responsible for promoting sales of the TFT product lines to distributors and end-user accounts in assigned areas.  Individual provides oversight, guidance, and support of TFT products, and trains dealers and end-users.  Actively participates in state and regional trade shows.


  • Continually evaluates and monitors assigned dealer territory, dealer sales activity/performance and profitability in keeping with TFT’s evaluation process. Maintains territories to existing distribution networks ensuring territorial objectives are met.
  • Provides support to dealers and end users, including answering inquiries, sending/receiving information, coordinating activities, assisting with sales calls and training sales personnel.
  • Trains dealer staff and others as assigned by giving work instruction on TFT equipment policies.
  • Establishes new strategic distribution partners ensuring key strategic fundamentals are always in alignment.
  • Maintains contact with fire schools, including promoting new products, teaching classes following through with loaned demo equipment.
  • Attends and assists dealers with state and regional trade shows and sales meetings, including providing adequate literature and display materials.
  • Prepares and provides various reports, including weekly activity summaries, trip reports, forecasts, competitive product pricing and weekly expense accounts.
  • Maintains inventory of demo equipment, current sales brochures and technical literature for shows and demonstrations.
  • Attends semi-annual sales meetings along with other company meetings as scheduled.
  • Maintain residence within current territorial responsibilities.
  • Maintains basic home office for territory management, which includes but not limited to maintaining TFT provided equipment such as computer/laptop, printer, and phone.
  • Complies with company expense reporting policy.
  • Proactively offers suggestions for the improvement of a product, process or practice.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS: To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The skills listed below are preferred but not required.  These skills are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability for the position.  Limited experience will be considered for the position with the willingness to acquire these skills/responsibilities during employment.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Degree preferred, but not required.
  • Experience and/or education in fire service/industry and operations preferred.
  • Knowledge of and/or ability to eventually be able to make practical application of National Fire Protection Association and IFSTA standards and hydraulics.
  • Knowledge of/or ability to learn terms commonly used during water flow discussions.
  • Knowledge of/or ability to learn terms commonly used during foam operations.
  • Knowledgeable of/or willingness to learn the scope and content of NFPA/USFS/UL standards
  • Possesses knowledge or has the ability to learn the general design and operation of nozzles, monitors, water flow appliances and injection equipment. .
  • Reasonable technical knowledge of hose sizes, design, manufacture, and components.   
  • Knowledge of foam agents.
  • Ability to frequently spend long periods of time driving a vehicle and/or traveling by plane.
  • Ability to regularly work extended, weekend and/or evening hours, and travel out of town, often overnight.
  • Ability to respond swiftly, rationally and decisively to emergencies on a 24-hour basis as needed.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and demonstrated safe driving record.
  • Ability to lift items weighing 30-50lbs.
