Moving to Lower Pressures

In today’s fire service we see a lot of people converting to low pressure. In years past, 100 PSI nozzles were the norm. They worked well with most hose varieties available.

Now, it’s common to see departments moving to low pressure nozzles. When you do that, it’s important to remember that you need the right hose to pair with that nozzle. Choosing the wrong hose for lower pressures can lead to an unmanageable hose line or a higher likelihood of kinks.

At Key Hose, every hose is application specific. The nozzle and hose need to work well together to make an ideal water delivery system.

The options that are right for you will depend on target flow and other criteria about your department and response district. It’s your department, your first due, and your equipment to use. Careful consideration is necessary to make sure your system works for you.

Thorough Evaluations

When putting your hose and fire nozzle package together, it is important to evaluate your options. Contact your nozzle manufacturer and work with your hose manufacturer to learn about the different choices you have, and which products are going to work well together.

At the end of the day, you want to put a system together that meets your needs and doesn’t disappoint you.
